This month nearly passed me by…. Seems to be a constantly reoccurring situation for me, and one I have no real excuse for…. But I have just made it in time, and with some good news of the coming season….

First up…. There are a few of the local hotrodding dubs getting a little road time…. After some fairly major build ups, some new drivelines are getting a hammering in preparation for the coming drag season.. The Munster Garage fellas are putting together some stroker donks for their own projects… Bernie is building up a supercharged number for his bus so I hear…. Deadkombi’s 56 Oval has recently acquired a new heart… All 2276cc of Italian IDA fed meatiness!…. Word has it that this oldschool donk has plenty of power and loads of history…. One day I hope that Paul (Deadkombi) gets his lead foot out of the carbs for long enough to let us all in on this engines history, and maybe a little insight into what he did to get it together recently…

Also…. The POS is back together…. Back in the turbo guise…. No rego…. Some improvements to the set-up and some changes to the fuel system…. A few minor things to sort out, before some dyno time to get the mixtures right…. Then its down to the Motorplex for a little V8 spanking!….. I hope we can get a few of the other hotrod Dubs down there to give it what for!

Finally….. I’d like to let everyone know, that there are two and possibly three new NoH2O events in the works…. First up, Paul and Sandy are getting the Como Hotel gathering happening again…. It’ll be on the third Thursday of every month…. Be sure to check the events thread for more info…. The other big news is that the “Free’n'Easy” is making a come back…. November 6th is the date…. Once again, its an after noon slot… South Beach Fremantle, western side of the railway…. We have space for around 100 cars I reckon…. We are once again joining forces with the Fremantle Kite Extravaganza for this one… But this time we have the “Two Wheels Good” crowd in the loop and all with the support of the Fremantle City Coucil….. More details as I pull it all together…. And finally…. Another display is being put together for February 16th at Scarborough Beach…. This one is part of the Stirling Council Summer Festival closing event…. The day will start with a navigation rally that will venture all around Perth, finishing at the Scarborough Beach Amphitheater in the late afternoon….. A free concert on the beach, fireworks show and VW’s…. Does it get any better?… Again, more details as they come together.

That will do for now…. I got some work to do.

As the heading suggests, it’s a tad quiet around these parts. No real news to report other than the “Free’n'Easy” show it looking more likely as the days roll by…. Another event in the pipeline is a VDub display at Scarborough Beach early in the new year…. Both Fremantle and Stirling Councils are very keen to have us there… More news will be posted in the events sections as I pull it all together….

As for cars entering the ‘collective’…. There has been a few coming through…. Notably the sale of Stevie’s Ragtop to Deano… Look out for his adventures with car shortly after purchase…. Steff picked up a very tidy LHD late Notchback and Shayno bought a real oddball Squareback….

The builds in the collective are ongoing, but none more so that Josh’s low-light….

It’s a bloody good thread and the attention to detail makes for an inspired read.

Speaking of Josh…. He’s the lucky bastard that picked up one of the most sort after local PV’s in the state…. I sure hope he does the right thing here and post a suitable thread in the daily driver section….. Hint, hint….

A bloody quick one this month….

Some cool shit happening over this side of Oz…. Andrew’s Mouse is finally home, Just’s 66 is getting ever closer, Kasey is enjoying the fruit’s of the Munster Garage’s labors and the final bits for my 2276 have finally arrived…. A good thing too, as the US to Oz exchange has recently taken a hammering, and we can no longer afford to import stuff without selling a kidney!

Speaking of over priced items….

The seller on theSamba is asking 4k for this little item…. I think it’s pretty good of him to cover the cost of shipping!!!

Other news is more interesting…. Fabo “the worlds most beautiful man” is converting his lil’red Dub to IRS, with some help from a friendly ghost and some weird guy with a camera and funny hat.

News from deepest darkest Forrestfield is that “The Master of Mistfit’s” is at it again….. Jon is building a bomb…. At least that is what his neighbors think!!!! Apparently seeing this funny looking wing thing poking out of his front lawn, got the better of one of his neighbors…. The dude took one look at this thing and promptly lost control of his faculties and drove into Jon’s Syncro!…. Of course I don’t believe a word of it…. I reckon it was the unsettling sight of a the Sangung Musso parked in the driveway that got the better of him!

In closing this post I’ll leave you all with a little bit of a heads up…. There are another couple of Volksrods in the early build stages here in Perth, and that mid-engined street/race Oval is nearly done, so keep an eye on this here forum, you just might get the lowdown way before the rest of Oz.

It has been a busy one…. The projects section has been a hive of activity…

Paul’s big block drag donk is nearing completion… The POS has finally got the panels sitting next to it ready to replace the rusty heater channel… Dave has a new project… Andrew has finally picked up the Mouse… Chris whipped the WRX/GTR/EVO/Porsche’s collective arses at the Classic Challenge and Hermann is getting an itch for the roundie, roundies…. So all good.

The more entertaining/kookie threads on the forum are becoming hugely popular…. The “Do’s and Don’t’s” thread especially so…. But I seem to be noticing a proliferation of “Don’t’s” and very few “Do’s” among the posts… Speaking of “Don’t’s”…. VWJon has been very active of late…. His “Lakes Bomber” project is surely to be yet another “seeing is not necessarily believing” project from the master of mistfit’s…

The “OMFG!” thread is mighty busy…. I started it some time back, posting VW related images that blew my mind…. The content is entirely made up of images I have spotted on the dublya, dublya, dublya…. I spend a lot of time looking around, and I can tell you, the world is so into these Dubs!…. I’m really diggin’ what the Spanish are doing right now, and the Belgians are rockin’ it also… Be sure to get into these threads, add your own fav’s to the list, it will blow your mind!

I dunno what it is, but it seems like the less time I spend at work, the less time I have to get stuff done at home!?… I mean…. Since the beginning of the year, I have been working part-time, in the vane hope that this would allow me more time at home and more time in the shed…. As you can prolly guess from this post, things haven’t panned out as hoped…. My ‘to do’ list is still way too long and my achievements to date seem dismally few… But all is not lost!…. I have at least managed to purchase yet another Dub….. See if you can guess?

What else?… There’s some snazzy dubs in the early build stages, and a few have changed hands recently…. And I’ve begun the move into my new workshop… But that’s another story…. Might even do a ‘build thread’ on that one!…. Riveting stuff!!!

Fairbridge Festival has come and gone…. Didn’t make it this year unfortunately, but from all reports is was awesome!

And finally…. The Munster Garage had their first official ‘all dubbers welcome’ open house…. Bernie and the rest of the crew down there put on an awesome night, with live music, loads of grub and plenty of very cool vdub ambiance thrown down….

So here we go again…. I’ve just about missed the monthly deadline, and I really don’t have any excuses….. Other than, it seems I now have less time to get shit done, now that I’m only working two days a week!!!!????

Go figure? Who’d a thunk that the life of an art teacher would be so full on?

But enough of my ‘complaining’…. You lot want to know whats the latest around these parts….  Now that we have Google off our back and the site is once more a safe place to be, things have gotten very busy…. We have more peeps seeking ‘membership’ (I don’t like the word at all, but….) and many have been coming in from the ‘other’ coast as well internationally…. It seems the word is getting out!

Speaking of which…. Our boy Josh over at the ‘Burg has been spending a little time here, showing off his kit…. Check out his current proj.

So here we go…. I’ll see if I can get it right this time!…. The news of the month is as follows…. Massive storm hits Perth and manages to cause over 200 million dollars worth of damage…. (don’t quote me on that!!)… Thousands of cars in car yards across the northern suburbs have been written off and thousands of home owners have got a big cleanup ahead of them…. Thankfully, no lives have been lost as a result…. The ‘collective’ did not get off lightly…. Our thoughts and wishes are with all those that suffered as a result of this storm…

And this leads me to the final spruke of the month… Getting creative… A few of the peeps on here have been having some fun, but few are as prolific as ‘our kid’ BJ.. Check his latest efforts out….

Catchyall out there…

I know, I know…. It’s been a whole month and I haven’t updated the blog…. I have a very good reason for this…. I just got back from VWMA Portland and all I can say is…. AWESOME!…. What a blast it was… Boz and I flew over to Adelaide two weeks back, hung out there a couple of days, then drove a very sweet little red ragtop down to Portland…. Thanks Pat for the loan…

The weekend was great, the peeps were cool and beer was flowing… Doesn’t get much better… For more pics and general low down, be sure to check out the thread.

Latest new on the POS’t is not great…. I got a canary yesterday… Feeling a little peeved about it, but I can’t really complain…. The beast is a little bit of a magnet for attention…

Lastly we have Big Al’s Poker Run…. An annual event open to all pre-78 street machines and hotrods. This event attracts over 800 entries every year, and this year a couple NoH2O members rolled out to a very warm reception…

Brock has finally got his Volksrod legal and rego’d which is an awesome achievement…. I know what he’s gone through to make it happen and I for one am glad that he stepped up and did it…. It’s the first fully legal Volksrod in Australia as far as I am aware and a credit to his skills and patience to see it through to the end… Well done Brock…

That’ll do for now…. I gotta head out to the shed later and get started on the POS’t!

How was Christmas for you guys?… Santa bring you that special something for your beloved?…. He was pretty good to me…. I got a new battery for my laptop, and LC-1 and some of the jets I need for the DCOE on the POS’T….

Speaking of which….. It freakin’ flies!… I’ve been working on the tune, fiddling with the carb and getting a handle on the Megajolt’s tuning application… I can honestly say, that I will never mess with a conventional distributor type performance ignition again… This system is the ducks nuts!

Things on the Tempo front are hotting up too…. There have been a few ‘new’ trucks turning up around the globe and I think its pretty cool that NoH2O is the home of the Tempo activity around the globe…. Have a look at this cool find from Tempo Pete….

Cool or what?… Pete’s got a very cool garage full of also sorts of VW/Porsche/Tempo related stuff…. I’m simply blown away by what this lucky man has hidden away…. Be sure to check out more of his insane collection….

Think I’ll sign off for now…. Got some work ahead of me in the next few weeks…. Victor’s new engine will be going together soon, then I can finally get started on the ‘Low light’ Bay project….

Its odd, but there seems to be a pattern forming here???!!! Why does it always seem to be around this time of the month that I get to the blog and let you lot know whats going on around here?…. And there has been quite a lot happening…. The DoVW-WA was on earlier this month and it was an awesome day….

There were so many new cars out this year it was amazing…. Most of them where NoH2O cars too so I’m pretty stoked about that!… Once again our contingent was well represented…. I did a quick count and came up with about 60 NoH2O cars in attendance…. Keiran did us proud, with a few of his cars making the show, along with Steff bringing out 3, Manji Sam bringing 2, Jonno bringing 2…. Highlight of the show for me was the number of unusual Dub’s that came out for the day… And of course getting the POS back on the road after 7 months working on the turbo conversion…. That thing is nuts!

After all the hard working going on in the sheds these past months, most of us have nothing to do now, but enjoy our cars…. Family stuff is going on, Christmas is upon us, holidays are afoot, good times are ahead… Looking at it from here, next year is looking awesome for WA Dubbers… There a few cars that didn’t make it to the show this year, there are new events in the planning and of course we have the favourites to attend also…. It’s all looking good…. You guys have a good and safe festive season…

I can’t believe that is the the 22nd already?… Where the heck did November go?…. I know…. In the workshop, that’s where… I’m sure I’m not the only one that has been working ‘hammer and tongs’ to get the car (insert model of choice here) together for the DoVW this year…. It’s getting damn close!!!… Speaking of which…. The regular venue is off this year, for unknown reasons, but a new venue has been sorted next door… Check the thread in the event’s page for more info….

Some old fav’s are getting a spruce up…. See Steve’s Bus for example…Some seriously cool cars are coming together too…. Also I know a few of our long distance members are preparing to bring more than one Dub to the show…. The POS is so close it’s scarey… I won’t bore you with the details…. Just check the thread for more info… DeadKombi (aka Paul V) has been very quiet of late… That dude is up to something for sure…. Speaking of Paul… His old black 57 is looking very tough with it’s new boots… It will surely create a bit of a stir at the show next month…. Bernie has said he’s is hoping to debut his sweet early Micro, Just is burning the midnight oil to get his sweet 66 to the show…. I’ll get to those spindles next week Justin, I promise!!!! Jonno is hoping to have his single cab rolling and Boz it looking to have his Ragtop close to ‘complete’ too… Speaking of Ragtop’s… Hermann might be in town for the show too…. Be good to see his 450hp monster there… I wonder if I can get Ron Harris to bring his drag car to the show?… What a display that would make!

What a great day that was… With a few hick-ups (road closures), we managed to stay together, for the most part and took in some great sites along the route… Be sure to check out the thread in the events page… There is some awesome pics to be seen of the day….
