NoH2O ~ It’s not a club it’s a collective.
Posted: October 14th, 2009 by Humpty
This Alfred’s was massive this month…. Never have I seen so many cars in that parking lot in all the years I have been there… As some of you know, Alfred’s is one of the popular car/cruise venues around Perth and it can get a little crowded down there, but this month was something else… I reckon we had around 30 Dubs in the carpark and another 10 or so, coming and going in the street… But what really made my night was the half’a'dozen early Bugs that made it out!… Top effort guys!

Other things are afoot… Projects are getting closer to completion, some have made it to rego and are now on the road. Some recently completed cars are getting a hammering out on the road, and still more are rumored to have been seen out and about…

What else?…. Branding… NoH2O is on a little bit of a promo drive with the creation of some very swish new bumper stickers… Collective member bLeH down in Albany has kindly offered to sort out the printing of the labels… Hope to have them in the next couple of weeks… Once that one is sorted, I have designed a slightly different version of the NoH2O brand for printing on a very stylish white t-shirt…. Perfect for wearing whilst you give your Dub a tune-up!…

And lastly…. The POS is getting ever closer… Maybe this weekend if all goes well… See you at Victor’s Big Day Out!

Only a short message this month…. It’s been a hairy one I can tell you!
These past weeks I have been pretty busy working on VW’s…. But not my own surprisingly Now that’s not entirely true…. Have got the fuel system (feed and return) in my car, the transmounts are done, the trapese bar is in, the trans is in and the engine is back in… So all good there…

But other stuff has been going on too…

Paul’s little black Bug is getter ever closer to completion (and he’s up to something I’m sure), Sam’s Bus is back on the road and looking fine, Just has a new frontend in his car and some very swish BRM’s to go on, Steve has his narrowed beam and FUCH’s on his Splitty, Dave has done bit more on his Tempo, John’s SC is going gang busters and Mike’s mid-engined street rego’d nutbag Oval is nearing completion…
And that’s just the start…
To finish off… I’d like to thank everyone for their patience with forum…. As many you know, for the past year NOH2O has been the target of SPAMMER’s with the intent of using our forum as an ‘attack site’. Hence the pop-up warning… This has taken it’s toll on visitors to the forum I have no doubt. It has also made it difficult for visitors to come and have a look as Google posted a warning about the site to that effect… So things are about to change around here…. The changes will be outwardly minimal, but one area I will make changes to will be how new members sign up… The current system is clearly not working well… Once the upgrades have happened, I’m hoping that by this time tomorrow, it will all be sorted and those dodgy fuckers will leave us alone.
Cheers…

Holy shit Batman!… The DoVW-WA is just around the corner!… What’s more, the summer drag season is about to start and still the POS is not finished!!!???? The truth be told, it’s so close now its getting exciting. Sure the weather has been crap of late and it’s no fun working in a single car garage, with no power and all, but I have been getting out there when I can… Been doing a few jobs for other dubbers when I can, like a narrowed beam and notched springplates for Just, and engine hotrod/rebuild for Victor and some custom disc brakes for a mates Hotrod… So all is good…
Other news that some of you might be interested in is Greypow has been back at work making my old Dub look pretty once more… Sure the ol’girl has been in a few scrapes these past years with previous owners leaving their mark on my old mate, but Graham is slowly bring her back to her former glory… Will have a beam to do for Greypow in the next week or two also, and believe me… The Green Meanie needs it!!!

Next up we have Deadkombi’s mean little Oval project…. Will you look at the OG paint on this car…. It’s freakin’ stunning in all its natural patina….

This thing is looking so dang tough… Nice pic too Paul!

Finally I would like to remind everyone of the DoVW this year…. Rumored to be the 60th anniversary of the VW Bus (can any of you bus nerds confirm this?), there is a call-out to all bus owners to pull the lead out and get to the event in force… There is even talk of attempting to get 60 Splitties to park up on the green….
All done… See ya out there!

Google have been giving me the heebies of late… It seems the regular attempts of spambots to sign up here at NoH2O has sent out alarm bells to the Gods of Google… It’s not that these spammers have actually made it past me…. They haven’t, but by just having them in the membership section (pending forum clearance), constitutes enough of a gamble to Google to post a warning about the security of NoH2O!… Sheesh!…. It’s pretty freakin’ clear to me that this a VW enthusiast site and not a porn/viagra/realestate/MP3 site, so why can’t they just sort out my requests and let me get on with it?
I don’t know… But what I do know is this…. The WA Dub Scene is doing fine… Case in point….
A little while back I posted here that Paul (Deadkombi) is selling his premo Black 57 “big winda” Bug… Well after a minor false start, it sold pretty damn quickly… And the new owner is more than pleased so I hear… The good news is that it has remained with the ‘collective’ and will be seen regularly out and about… Further news from Paul is that he quickly replaced it with yet another Bug project….An OG paint Oval no less… His progress on this project is nothing short of amazing… You gotta check it out!

So much for getting stuck into the splitty hey Paul?
Also… Good news from the House of Sam…

His Bus has now returned from it sojourn at Roe & Son’s and is now ensconsed safely in his garage… The fit-out and thread updates are continuing…
And now finally… I’d like to let you all know something… My brother is a nut bag… There, I said it (typed it?)… He has now cut a little bit more of his BD23!… The purists out there are gonna linch him I tell ya!….

Good on ya Choppa…. I’m proud of ya!

Have you seen this?

Looks bloody awesome doesn’t it? You simply must have a look at Sam’s build-up of this puppy… It’s breathtaking…. Even for a stocker!
Speaking of stockers and the restoration of them, I’m not really into that as most of you know, but I’m sure glad others are…. Here’s yet another one coming out a NoH2O members shed…. Smithy’s shed to be precise… Sure he lives on the other coast these days, but I know his heart is still firmly planted in WA… But enough of that… Check out his latest creation!

For more be sure to have a gander at his very detailed build thread.

How about some creative updates?…. BJ has been at it again, along with a few other dudes and can I say, both as a mate to these guys and photography teacher, that you guys are doing great work… Keep at it!
Some other great news is that a few of our crew have recently gotten there projects on the road and cruising about… Graham got his oval on the road is super quick time, Brian got his back on the road after a harrowing roadtrip which culminated in a defect notice from the Victorian Police (cheers guys!) and finally we have my brother, Choppa and his awesome Outlaw BD23 ‘Bulli’… Have a gander at the projects and rides sections for more guff on whats happening here abouts.

So that will do for now…. Loads still to chat about but I think you get the idea…. See ya out there!

Can you believe it?…. Paul is selling his 57 Big winda!!!?

Oh well, I spose all good things come to an end eventually….
What else…. Simon’s low-light panel is nearing completion… This bus is totally stunning, Simon (and his pals) have done an awesome job on it…. It’s of a caliber that you can not believe… Be sure to check out his build thread for more details….

He’s hoping to have it ready for debut this weekend at the Nationals in Sydney… Stay tuned on that one as I’m sure it will blow the Sydneysiders away!

Next up in the projects sections we have Sam’s bus… Another quality build this, after a few years of ownership and two freshen ups, Sam decided it to go the whole nine yards and do it right… Of course you need to head over to his thread if you want to know more…
And finally we come to the recent Whoop Ass Wednesday Night Drags… The drag season has come to a close for the winter and some of the fellas thought they’d head down there for a little bogan action in their dubs to close the season….

Bernie, Jonno, Adrien, Paul, Chris and Hermann all showed up with their cars… But only Bernie, Paul, Chris and Hermann raced…. All did well’ish… Paul bettered his best with a 14.2 I think… Bernie wasn’t happy, but had a good time anyway…. Chris has got some power, but not getting away well… And I reckon his gearing is way short for the drags…. Taller tyres next time Chris!!! But of course you want to know how Hermann went…. He got two runs in before he threw his pulley at Chris, but what runs they were…
How’s a 12.45 at 180kmh grab you?… Want to see the video of the action and some really nice pics by Ben?… Nav to the thread and there you will find the YouTube links and awesome pics.

Lets open this one with a little be creative work for Sam…. He’s been hiding his skills with a camera no doubt, but here it is for all to see…Top effort Sam!

Sure it’s not really VW related, but if you squint a little, it kinda looks like the roof of Westi! Anyway the creative section here on NoH2O is supposed to be open to any and all sorts of creative stuff that you guys are doing… Want to see more of what the crew are doing? Head over to the creative corner of NoH2O…
What else can I tell you? The Matador Mafia is growing strong, there are so many peeps across the globe congregating there. It’s pretty wild to see the success of the place… Already we have a number of international owners spending time here along with many of the local Aussie contingent. It’s heartening to see the help and support the Matador members are offering there… And speaking of members in the Mafia, have a gander at Patina Paul’s efforts… We introduced you to Paul’s project last month and I’m kinda speachless….. Fffaaarrrkkkkk what a truck!
Paul and the gang at the Bus Barn got the Tempo done in time for the Volksworld show and I think it is safe to say it created a little bit of stir. It was a marathon effort from all concerned given that the shop had plenty of customer work to get done first, but all I can say is, congrats guys! You built the worlds first airbagged and slammed Tempo Matador and it freakin’ rocks!

The POS’t upgrade continues… As I’m on holidays at the moment, I have been finding time to get all those chores out of the way that must be done… You know the stuff, washing, cleaning, organising, moving stuff from one place to another. But still I have found a day of two to get some work done on the POS’t… This is the efforts to date…

If you want to see more, you only need to head to the projects section to see it all… While your there, have a look at Chris’ lil’ red bug…. It’s a tough little critter this and he has designs on racing it in as many differnt types of motorsports as he can… Be sure to stay in the loop of his exploits!

Anyway… Enough of this… Get back in the shed and finish your projects guys. And while your there, be sure to take some pics and post them up here on the forum. The gang here would love to see what your upto in the shed, at the track and on the street.

The excuses remain the same, the world continues to changed, and still we keep rolling on…
Sounds like a hit song to me…. But its all true!
The local scene is ticking over, we have some new members that have signed up here in the past months. Many locals, some interstater’s and a few from other parts of the globe… I think that’s pretty cool that we have gotten interest from all over…. One notable request came from Michael Rhodes over at the Cal-Look Forum… It seems that we have made the list of international blogs of interest and are listed on their blog register… Cool or what?… Another recent register to our member listing is Patina Paul from The Bus Barn in the UK. Paul comes to us via Craig (Dr Evil to his friends!) and their shared interest in the humble Tempo Matadors… Check out Paul’s truck and it’s build up the Matador Mafia section.

In other news, some of the guys are getting into their photography of late… BJ being one of them…. Now I’m not suggesting he’s up to anything lude or inappropriate, just good clean fun and some very creative explorations….

If he chooses to explore the world of Pin-ups and Glamour photography, then that’s ok with me! Your secret is safe with me BJ, I won’t tell Jamie Girl a thing…. On that note, be sure to head over to the arty farty section of the forum and have a look at the some of the cool illustrations, photography and other crazy shit that some of our crew are up to…. Other than messing with dubs that is.
What else?… The Whiteman Park Auto One Classic Car Show is coming up in a couple of weeks… It looks to be another event that I won’t be ready for, but I will surely be there! There is a limit of 30 tickets available for the local VW crowd, 10 of which are available for NoH2O and KK members… If you want in and show your ride, I suggest you contact Richard (after hours) real quick on 9342 8703. For more info, check out the thread in the events section of the forum.
Short and sweet this one. Hopefully have some good news for you all later this month… But in the meantime, winter is coming, so keep it straight and keep it clean.

Things have been a little quiet around these parts… Its not that nothing of interest has been going down, quite the contrary, but it seems that after the show last November activities have been on the slide. The truth be told, its the festive season and nobody has had time to play with the cars. Its the time for family, the time for partying and the time to plan…
So planning it is!
Cars are progressing, events are in the pipeline, garage’s are getting a clean out and the locals are getting on. Jonno has finished the paint on his car and fitted his drop spindles too, so he’s been out enjoying his amazingly cool car… Hopefully he will get off his lazy arse and put a thread up on here about the car and its build up!… Hint, hint!

What else…. Hmmm… Bernie has been busy down at the HQ getting his new enterprise up and running… If you are in the market for a true bolt in straight axle kit for your splitty, then Bernie is the man for the job!

And while your there, check out his narrowed LP Bus and Bug beams and DIY kits along with many other feats of engineering!
Ok…. What’s next?…. Lets talk about Wayne…. What can I say about ol’Waynbo… His bug project could well be the most antisipated build-up this side of the black stump, but from the looks of that paint, I think it is well worth the wait!…So how many years have we been waiting for the paint to dry?

And finally we have Boz… Well, Boz’s bus actually…

The story behind this bus is pretty cool, but even cooler is the fact that this is not Boz’ first 23! Now you international dudes might say “so what!”, but here in Oz, a deluxe bus is a rarity, so the likelyhood of owning two is phenomenal… Check out the story on his oh so straight 23 Resto that has been going full steam these past months… Should be in paint any day now!
Righto… Back to the POS’T!

Holy cow!…. Has it been 7 months already? This year has been nuts, totally nuts, but all good none the less. These past weeks have offered up a huge number of new cars on the local scene and the coolest thing is, most of them belong to NoH2O members!!!

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of attending the VW Club of WA’s premier event… The Day of the Volkswagen. Once again NoH2O made its presence felt with a good showing of members cars all arriving at the event on mass. As some of you may know, some of our members are also members of other VW owners clubs in WA… Like NoH2O, Kombi Konnection and the VW Club of WA members dig doing stuff with other groups, so for members from these groups to come along on our regular pre-event DoVW cruise was a pretty cool thing… Leaving the Park Centre carpark at 10am, the collection of dubs completed the short journey to DoVW show at McCallum Park. Sam has posted some vids on Youtube of the drive to the show which makes for some cool viewing.

Upon arrival NoH2O took up our usual spot under the trees along side the main concourse. Some of our members joined in the festivities and entered some categories… At this stage I have no idea if any awards were won by our crew, but I can tell you that our cars caused quite a stir yet again…

Highlight car of the event for me was Paul’s black 57 ‘Bigwindow’… This car is truely amazing! And to to think he built this car in his home garage… Paint (he still needs to find a good bonnet for it!), panel, engine, suspension the whole lot! Another amazing car is Johnny’s Mean Green Time Machine…. This thing is wack…. I mean, check out the interior!

Choppa’s Drag Day was a bit of a fizzer… It got rained out… But not before a few of the guys got some runs in… It was damp, so the guys found it tough to be consistent, but I know the newbies had a ball and were suprised with how quick they ran!!! Some of us are heading down there again tomorrow night… I’m taking the POS for a run and I know a few other guys are gonna make it too.
In closing… Check out Boz’s cool little flik of the last few weeks events… Its bloody cool!
