This is the car that got me hooked on dubs. Ive had it now for almost 10 years!*OMG!!
It all started with getting the canary off(defect). Then a dipsh*t in a truck reversed into him and wrecked the guard(he was also kind enough to drive off quickly)

I was going to restore it(as concept drawing) for a nice daily driver. One thing led to another and now this is what it looks like.
Ive got some color coded bus wheels on the front and widened 7's at the rear with whitewalls. Ive done everything myself and its my first attempt at an interior etc etc. learning as I go.

Main goal was to try and make it as nice as possible on a very tight budget and also to cut my teeth whilst at it. Hope to finish it one day...playing with bricks and mortar for now:)

I bought this baby a few years ago and finally got it sent across from Bendigo.
Thought Id get the ball rollin' by giving him a once over and removing the 60's camper crap and a good clean. A few hours of grinding & hacking with liberal sprays of WD40 the plywood floor finally gave in! Oh, and the roof rack has found a new home and will enjoy its new career, having beans to support. Max still runs and drives and not hacked up but will need a full resto.

Hey Bpow,

Its a 58 with other bits on it;) I love the early batwings(left over spares from the Oval) but Ive painted it in a pearl silver. Got a W lid to go on too but didnt have time to do it so the standard lid is on for now. Bit of a bitsa/rodish and not for the purists Im afraid!hehe

Not for the purists hey!

Well that's one of the things I love about Bugs - they can morph into so many variants that are unique to each owner Cool

One day soon dave....one day soon;)

I actually love original restored cars but mine was fairly ratted out when I got it. No point restoring to stock I figure and not really a rare model imo.

My No1 priority when I was hunting for a split was it had to be a windowed early pressed bumper with a good roof and panel devider intact, and the more original the better.
The good points- Straight, both bumpers, running and driving 36er, dash intact, original bench seat, wheels and running gear, semaphores gd cond.
The bad points- Rust: rh floor, cabin, battery tray, late model indicators cut in, missing rear seats.... I will strip the bottom 10 inches of it and make a proper assessment as there seems to be repairs to the front nose and rear quarters. The great thing is that repair panels are easily available. WSmile

First day back into it after a bit of a break. Almost finished the interior, cleaned the engine bay/box and sorted out the wheels. Dry fit tank and fuel bits and trying to put the new seals etc but they're fighting me all the way the lil $!#@! Long way to go....WSmile
