looking good there, no welding then? its a strange colour, i think some big iron cross stickers on the doors! chunky tyres, give it the military look but a different style to vlkswgn!
just my 2 cents worth

Raised it 80mm back and front, fitted 165 tyres to the front instead of 145s, greased up all brakes lines and pumped grease in the beam and sorted loads of silly problems

1. Passenger windscreen wiper slipping.
2. Drivers side, no main beam.
3. Drivers door kept flying open, then when fixed wouldnt open from inside... Rolling Eyes Laughing
4. Refix passenger side rear bumper.
5. Speedo wouldnt go past 40mph.
6. Steering wheel top bush loose.
7. Sprayed with matt black the headlight buckets from tyre rubbing... Laughing
8. Reduce the size of the bolts in the rear adjustable spring plates and grind back the blocks as the wheels rubbed when raised.

Nothing major, but we all no the silly little jobs takes toooo much time..

We were lucky aswell with the pit inspector, he is building a vw based beach buggy so... Cool

IMO you can't beat a bit of camber - as long as you can afford the tyres..

I have never had any issues with strange wearing tyres.... Those of you that remember the Green Meanie know I dig camber.... That car ran 7" fuchs with 215's on the rear, and was a true daily driver... Sure it was 'only' two down in the rear, but I reckon it sat nice and rode real well... And it didn't use tyres at all... Of course it prolly helped that I threw it through corners at every opportunity!

Wink

Well done, I thought I saw it driving around Mt Hawthorn a few weeks ago!

I hope to have mine ready for rego in the next month. Does the interior need to be complete. I have been told that the door trims need to be secured, but do you have to have carpet and a hoodlining? What about indicators, did you just have semaphores? The hoodliner is an expensive exercise and something I don't want to do at this stage.

You should be right without carpets, I registered my Baja with out them. Door cards I would say yes, as the metal in the doors can be sharpish...

But im not entirley sure with the indicators... im pretty sure as long as it is factory it's ok...

you definately need hoodlining or at least some carpet glued up there ,door trims ditto, probably may get away with some rubber mat on floors, cant make you fit anything that wasnt standard anyway-ie semaphores are perfectly ok for the year of vehicle,at least if their working anyway.
Cut and welded-shortened adjustable-dropped beams arent legal, but you can apply for modifications thru DPI tech section at Welshpool-(heaps of paperwork) so be careful if you have anything modified at least wind the height back up so it isnt scraping the deck min 4" clearance with all seats filled -ie 4 passengers for a beetle etc no touching of bodywork etc, dropped spindles arent legal either although i think this is safest way, wheel spacers same ,hope this helps. Very Happy
